Roxburgh pacer Fiery Ferret scored career win No8 at start 76 for trainers Geoff and Jude Knight and driver John Morrison.
The win handed the trainers a winning double after Candidasa broke his maiden earlier in the day.
Fiery Ferret has been such a regular sight at southern harness racing meetings in recent seasons he could be considered part of the furniture.
If the pacer continues to show the kind of zest he showed when winning yesterday, he will be around for many more.
"He is just a lovely old horse. The ratings system suits him because he goes up and down and finds his mark," Geoff Knight said.
"He loves racing on grass because he has got a few niggles.
"He is actually a horse that wants to be worked. He gets bored and stands at his gate if you don't work him."
Morrison gave Fiery Ferret a perfect run in the trail throughout before bringing the pacer to the outside of the leader, Doc Seelster, to launch his run in the straight.
Driver Matthew Williamson also gave Candidasa a perfect run in the trail.
However, he chose to stick to the running rail on the home turn.
The result was the same, as the pacer ran an impressive four and a-half-length victory.
The Knights' winning double comes after their stable has undergone a time of change.
The couple have scaled back their training commitments after beginning a new venture as rural delivery contractors in the Roxburgh area.
The move means they will now train a smaller team of horses.
Judging by their results yesterday, the change is working.
"We are loving it so far. It is a great lifestyle and we are really enjoying it."
