The Claire Anderton-trained 5yr-old was limited to just one start when she was campaigned in the North Island in March.
The Precious One injured a fetlock while playing in her paddock after running some smart sectionals from off the pace in the group 3 Waikato Stud Plate at Ellerslie.
The Darci Brahma mare recuperated in the North Island and did the first month of preparation for her spring campaign there.
''She is coming up really well. I am really happy with her,'' Anderton said.
''She did a month on a water walker up in Cambridge before she came to me and she was actually a lot more forward than what I expected when she came home.'
Anderton plans to give The Precious One a jumpout to make sure she is fully back on track following her injury.
The trainer said the horse's condition would tell her when the horse was ready to race again.
''We're just bringing her up and making sure everything's all right before we head to the races.
''I've got the plan in the back of my head to have her ready for [New Zealand] Cup time.
''She'll let us know when she's ready. When she's up and galloping she doesn't take a whole lot of work to come to it.''
The Precious One is likely to return in a sprint race, but what distances she will tackle after that are undecided.
The 5yr-old failed in her only attempt past 1400m last term before she was freshened and tried over sprint trips for the rest of the season.
Anderton said she was not ruling out another attempt at 1600m.
''I'm surprised that she's not getting 1600m, but at the moment she's telling us that she wants to be a sprinter.
Certainly, in the future, I have not written off her going further.
''But will just stick to sprinting until she tells us otherwise.''
The Precious One produced a brilliant first-up win at Riccarton, her only win of last season.
The win came before she copped a run of wide draws and little luck in the running in her next six starts.
''She has certainly had her share of bad luck with little niggly injuries and draws,'' Anderton said.
''So it would be nice just to get her fit and go racing, this time.''
