Veeceewah is in line for this third win in 18 days at Waimate tomorrow.

The Red River Hanover 5yr-old mare, in the Woodend Beach stable of Greg and Nina Hope, cleared maiden ranks on the grass at Oamaru on November 17 and she was successful again at Motukarara last Sunday.

Dexter Dunn has retained the drive.

Joshua Mac, runner-up to Minty Mellow in the Geraldine Cup last Saturday, could go one better in the Waimate Cup.

• Harness Racing New Zealand is in favour of the administration of the Forbury Park Trotting Club continuing with a Board Of Control.

Stephen Cairns, the chairman of the BOC, sought the view of HRNZ on the subject. He outlined the view in the annual report presented to members on Thursday night.

The BOC was established in 1996 in a joint decision of the NZ Racing Industry Board, HRNZ and the club, when the club was in severe financial difficulties. Funds of $250,000 were extended to the club to clear its liabilities and ensure its survival.

The BOC took control of the club finances and the committee of the club maintained racing operations.

HRNZ had inputs into the appointments to the BOC.

"In HRNZ's opinion, this restructuring and the changes made by the BOC and the committees have been instrumental in ensuring the club's survival in a challenging environment," Edward Rennell, the chief executive of HRNZ, said.

"HRNZ sees Forbury Park as strategic to harness racing in the South Island and has supported the club with its positive progress by allocating additional dates to the venue over the last 12 years."

He said HRNZ approval would be required if the necessity of a BOC was reviewed given that HRNZ assumed responsibility for the club's debts.

"HRNZ would need strong convincing on any change to the present structure of administration. In our opinion the present structure has worked very well and been instrumental in the club solidifying its position from a bleak outlook in 1996."

He recommended steps be taken to improve communication between the BOC and the committee of the club. Don Cuttance has replaced Ray Hanson as a club representative on the BOC. Alan Clyma, who was re-elected president, is also on the BOC.
