The Setarip syndicate won with Olgoldnblack at Forbury Park last Thursday night.
Neville McCorkindale, Ted Mortimer and Joe Wilson, all of Invercargill and Clark Neil, of Gore, are original members of 20-person syndicate registered with the New Zealand Trotting Conference (now Harness Racing New Zealand) in 1969.
It is the oldest registered syndicate.
The Setarip syndicate was formed from members of the Pirates Rugby Club in Invercargill, hence the name spelt backwards.
Mark Smith, the manager of the syndicate for the last five years, played for the club.
"It is not a prerequisite to be in the club but that is where the syndicate started," Smith said.
The syndicate had its first win with Hispaniola at a Riverton Trotting Club meeting at Winton in December, 1978. The syndicate bred Hispaniola, a Sly Yankee-Penzance gelding trained and driven by Lyn Thomas.
Hispaniola was 11/13 in the betting and paid $45.55 to win and $10.15 for a place.
Peter Davis drove Kilbank Rose and Smoothover to win on the same programme.
Davis drove Fly The Flag to win at Forbury Park on Thursday.
Olgoldnblack is trained by Clark Barron, who drove the 5yr-old Live Or Die-Rose Holmes gelding.
Barron's father, Ron has trained for the syndicate for 19 years.
"The syndicate has had several winners who have mostly won one or two races," Ron said.
Olgoldnblack, having his third start, is held on lease from Richmond breeder Dawn Berkett.
Olgoldnblack is a brother to The Peace Rose, who won at Gore in March for Clark Barron when having her first race for two years.
She was leased by Ron Barron and Ritchie McDonald from Mrs Berkett. The Peace Rose won four races when trained by Noel Berkett.
Dexter Dunn has been confirmed as the driver for Bettor's Strike in the $20,000 free-for-all at Addington on Saturday.
Dunn has driven race rival Beaudiene Bad Babe in her past five starts of which she has won her last four.
Australian sprinter Starspangledbanner is to have his first northern hemisphere start in the Duke Of York Blue Square Stakes at York today.
The 4yr-old joined the Aidan O'Brien Irish stable after finishing third in the group one Newmarket Handicap at Flemington in March.
