The southern harness racing bureau based in Invercargill will take over processing of fields for race meetings at Forbury Park from August 1.
A general manager, replacing the chief executive officer, will be appointed at Forbury Park to run the race meetings and promote the venue.
Alan Clyma, the president of the Forbury Park club, and acting CEO Ken Dempster, said that the move would unify harness racing in Otago and Southland.
The Forbury Park club will continue to arrange programmes and select fields through sub-committees.
"The Invercargill bureau will take over the processing of fields and handle nominations, withdrawals, driver declarations and scatchings until 5pm the day before a meeting," Dempster said.
The southern bureau, headed by Russell Freeman, will thus handle an additional 23 meetings to the 44 in Southland.
The next race meeting at Forbury Park is set down for Thursday, August 12.
