He became the first pacer to complete the New Zealand Cup-NZ Free-For-All double in successive years at Addington this month. He won the Miracle Mile last year when the race was run at Menangle for the first time. He started from barrier four and has drawn three tomorrow night.
Monkey King ran a Australian and New Zealand record time of 1.50.8, which was lowered to 1.50.5 by Washakie at Menangle last Saturday.
Westburn Grant (1989-90), Chokin (1993-94), Holmes D G (1999-2000), Sokyola (2003-04) and Be Good Johnny (2005-06) have won the Miracle Mile in successive contests since the race was first run at Harold Park in 1967.
Sokyola was an 8yr-old in the year of his second win, the same age as Monkey King.
Mr Feelgood has the fastest mile time in the race tomorrow of 1.49 set in North America. His best time in Australia and New Zealand is a 1.52.1 rate for 1660m at Albion Park in June.
Mr Feelgood, who has drawn the outside of the front line in the eight-horse field, has won eight of his 10 starts since transferring to Queensland trainer John McCarthy in April.
Smoken Up, who won the Len Smith Mile in 1.50.9 at Menangle in April, was twice-placed behind Monkey King at Addington this month. He ran second in the Miracle Mile last year.
Blacks A Fake is attempting the race for the fourth time with his best effort a second in 2006. The longer distances have been the forte of the four-time Interdominion winner.
Now 10, he ran his fastest mile rate of 1.53.7 at Albion Park two starts back.
