Mister Presley is poised to complete a hat trick of wins in a depleted field at Addington tonight.
Mister Presley has been impressive in his two wins at Addington this month after a four-month break from racing.
The David and Catherine Butt-trained 3yr-old won first up at Ashburton in December and he has now won three of his five starts. He drew the second line tonight but scratchings have reduced the field to nine.
Dexter Dunn has replaced brother, John, on Burano, a dashing winner at Oamaru on Sunday. John is back on Lexie Highlander (race 9), whom he drove to win at Addington two starts back.
Makarewa Sun, who has been racing well from the Ken Barron stable, has been scratched from race 9, pending his departure for Australia.
"He is off to join Darren Hancock at Pheasant's Nest (near Menangle) next week. He will be raced in a 50 -50 deal with clients of the stable," Barron said.
The 9yr-old Makarewa Sun, winner of eight races, is owned by Ron Barron (father of Ken) and Ritchie McDonald, of Invercargill.
"If it wasn't for soundness problems, he [Makarewa Sun] would have been a very good horse," Ken Barron said.
Trainer Peter Jones will attempt to bridge a gap of 33 years when he drives Wee Brother in the Hororata Cup tonight. Ricky May, who drove Wee Brother to a last-start win in the Canterbury Regional Cups Final at Addington on April 29, is committed to Ultimate Player. Mark Jones, who has driven Wee Brother in five wins, is required for OK Courage.
Peter Jones drove Drifted In to win the 1978 Hororata Cup for trainer Jack Rogers.
