Racing: Let Me Thru big mover

Let Me Thru has gone from 20th to second in the ratings for the Interdominion Trotting series.

The third and final ratings were released yesterday by Darrin Williams, handicapper for Harness Racing New Zealand.

The Interdominion begins in Auckland on Friday week.

Let Me Thru impressively won a free-for-all at Alexandra Park last Friday.

He is second to stablemate Sundon's Gift in the ratings.

Both horses are trained by Chris Lang.

Sundon's Gift, winner of the last two Interdominions, faded to fourth on Friday.

Let Me Thru has won his last eight races and 17 from 24.

He won the Australasian Trotting Champion at Melton last month.

He is a 5yr-old by Muscles Yankee from Invasion's Pride, a half-sister by Armbro Invasion to Landora's Gift (by Chiola Hanover), the dam of Sundon's Gift.

The half-sisters were bred by Trevor Allingham, of Pukekohe, from Landora's Pride, winner of 34 races including the 1987 Rowe Cup, 1988 Dominion Handicap, the V. L. Dullard Cup, two heats of the Interdominion in Melbourne in 1988 and a heat in Christchurch in 1987.

A total of 26 pacers and 33 trotters remain in the Interdominion series.

Blacks A Fake heads the ratings in the pacing series, ahead of Monkey King and Themightyquinn.

Matthew Williamson was suspended from tomorrow until midnight on Saturday and fined $350 for careless driving at Gore on Sunday.

Williamson, the driver of Jaccka Twain, was found to have shifted in soon after the start when insufficiently clear, causing Ya Dreamin (Adam Sanderson) to fall.

Brent Shirley (Shinko) and (Esteem) were dislodged from their sulkies and the field disorganised.

All drivers were cleared to continue their engagements.

Ya Dreamin sustained abrasions.

Jaccka Twain was disqualified from second.

The fields for races 9 and 10 at the Reefton meeting on Sunday had to be re-drawn.

The fields published on Saturday for those races were those originally released by Harness Racing New Zealand and distributed by the New Zealand Press Association.

Sepoy has tightened in the market for the Golden Slipper following the defeat of Karuta Queen in the Black Opal on Sunday, AAP reports.

Karuta Queen has drifted from $5.50 to $11 after running second to You're Canny.

Sepoy firmed from $2.50 to $2 with TAB Sportsbet.

A decision on whether Sepoy starts in the Todman Stakes on Saturday will be made after he works today.

Sepoy is unbeaten in four starts, the most recent the Blue Diamond Stakes at Caulfield on February 26.

The Slipper is on April 2.

Satin Shoes is second-favourite for the Slipper at $7.50.

Karuta Queen was slightly lame after the Black Opal when she finished a length and a-half from You're Canny.

She had won her other four starts.

You're Canny ($11) gave Canberra trainer Gratz Vella his biggest win.

"She was first-up for 10 weeks. The other horse was rock-hard fit and had raced two weeks ago," Neville Layt, the trainer of Karuta Queen, said.

"It was only in the last 50 metres that he got the better of her."

Karuta Queen had grade one lameness in a foreleg.

"She'll be there on Slipper day.

She might have just done a bit too much work on Tuesday morning and it might have taken a bit out of her," Layt said.

Vella has been training for 30 years and had twice finished second in the Black Opal.

"My first starter in the Black Opal was Royal Lot in 1981. He won the start before and ran fourth that day."

You're Canny is not in the Golden Slipper.

Mark Hills and Thamil Arumugan were suspended for careless riding at Ellerslie on Saturday.

Hills, the rider of Bob Valdez, admitted allowing his mount to shift in at the 300m, causing a check to Read My Lips.

He was suspended from March 20 to 26 inclusive.

Arumugan admitted allowing his mount, Princess Road, to shift in at the 1000m and contact the running rail.

He is suspended until midnight on March 24.
