Racing: Leading prospect

Donegal Under Fire has the opportunity to enhance his record on grass tracks in the Geraldine Cup at Orari tomorrow.

Donegal Under Fire won over 3000m on the grass at Oamaru eight days ago.

He won at Orari 12 months ago for trainer Jim Curtin and Dunedin owner Russell Nieper.

Curtin drove Flash Roche to win the 1990 Geraldine Cup.

Trainer Robert Dunn has a strong hand with Joshua Mac and Niraadi. Joshua Mac was a last-start winner at the New Zealand Cup meeting and he has been successful on grass.

Niraadi has gained seven of his nine wins on grass. He was a late-finishing second to Donegal Under Fire at Oamaru after starting from 40m.

Joshua Mac is the drive of John Dunn, son of the trainer. He combined with his father to win the 2004 Geraldine Cup with Lucky.

A 40m handicap should not be beyond Springbank Richard in race 9. He ran fourth in the Dominion Handicap at his last start.

He has won the Banks Peninsula Cup twice on grass.
