King Montrose is a ready-made favourite for the feature race for 3 and 4yr-olds at Kurow today after wins in his last three starts.

Daniel Stackhouse is back riding the King's Chapel 4yr-old.

He has ridden King Montrose in wins at Wingatui (1600m) on November 2 and Riccarton (2000m) on New Zealand Cup day.

KC Walters rode King Montrose to a last-start win over 1600m at Riccarton on December 17 when Stackhouse was in Australia.

King Montrose is racing over 1800m today.

Aluminium Bikerack, the 3yr-old filly who won over 1500m at Wingatui on Sunday, is among the rivals for King Montrose.

Inferno is a "horse for the course" in the Kurow Cup.

Inferno won the race for three and 4yr-olds last year and she was a maiden winner at the previous Kurow meeting.

She won over 2200m at Ascot Park two starts back and finished a close second to Woodyeva at Wingatui on Sunday.

Coup Callum will be tried in blinkers in the Kurow Cup.

The blinkers replace the side winkers he wore when fourth in the Invercargill Cup at his last start.

His trainer Michael Pitman also has Fellini and Peyow Peyow in the race.

Peyow Peyow finished second to his ill-fated stablemate Eel Win in the Kurow Cup last year.

The ace sprinter Coup Align has five rivals including four of his stablemates in the $14,000 open 1250m at Waikouaiti on Saturday.

Coup Align is the topweight with 61kg.

He won the race last year with 57.5kg.

War Pass, a Breeders' Cup winner, has died less than 24 hours after returning to a United States stud from a second Australian shuttle season, AAP reports.

Lane's End Farm said the stallion was found dead in his Kentucky paddock.

The cause of the death of the 5yr-old is unknown after a autopsy.

War Pass was retired to Lane's End Farm with a record of five wins from seven starts and more than $US1.5 million in earnings.

A two-time group one winner, War Pass won the Breeders' Cup Juvenile at Monmouth Park in 2007.

He stood two seasons at stud and has foals in the northern and southern hemispheres.

War Pass shuttled twice to Australia to stand at Widden Stud in the Hunter Valley.

Brenton Avdulla says winning a Sydney apprentices' title is not a priority but it is a good enough reason to remain indentured to trainer Anthony Cummings.

He lost his claim a month ago.

He is the leading apprentice in Sydney with 35 wins.

"I could come out of my time now but there's the apprentices' title to think about, though I'm not too worried about it."

Avdulla had a group one win on Secret Admirer during the Sydney spring carnival.

Pandorama has won the grade one Lexus Chase at Leopardstown by six lengths, BPA reports.

He gave rider Pat Carberry his fourth win in the feature jumps race.
