Racing: Keep an eye on Vincent Mangano

Vincent Mangano is hard to go past in the Stewards' Handicap at Riccarton today after his impressive win in the Pegasus Handicap on Saturday.

He came from last at the 400m to win the Pegasus (1000m) going away by a length.

He was not liable for a re-handicap and his 52.5kg, 1kg less than he carried on Saturday.

Peter McKay, his Matamata trainer, won the Pegasus-Stewards Handicap double with Clifton Prince in 2007.

Coup Align won both races last year.

Coup Align is top weight with 58.5kg, 5kg more than he carried last year.

He arrived back from Melbourne on Thursday, where he won the Apache Cat Classic (1000m) two starts back at Cranbourne on October 11.

Kiloton is primed for a bold bid fresh after two trial wins.

The Jon Sargent-trained gelding was placed in the Railway Stakes and Telegraph Handicap last season.

His most recent win was over 1400m at Rosehill in May last year.

Michael Coleman, who won the Coupland's Mile last year on Wall Street, is making the trip from Matamata to ride Altered Image.

Altered Image is stepping up in distance after winning over 1200m at Hastings last month and finishing second over 1400m at Ellerslie.

He ran fifth in the 2008 New Zealand Two Thousand GuineasThe Meista, who failed in the race last year, has been more impressive in his lead up this year.

He won the Coupland's Trial (1600m) well at Riccarton on October 24.

Michael Walker, the Melbourne-based jockey, has one ride at Riccarton today.

He will partner the Roger James-trained November Rain in the $250,000 Coupland's Mile.
