El Nino won in style at his fourth start since joining the Buchan stable at North Taieri two months ago.
He had to work to reach the lead after 700m of the 2700m and won decisively by a length and a-half.
"Once he gets to the front he just goes to sleep. He won comfortably," Barclay said.
Barclay drove El Nino in his 2yr-old racing, including a win in the 2009 New Zealand Kindergarten Stakes in 1.55.5. She was subsequently away from race driving when pregnant but returned to drive the Live Or Die gelding to win at 3.
El Nino was then trained by Doug McLachlan at Myross Bush.
El Nino began racing this season from the Invercargill stable of Murray Brown. He won in February before the Riviera syndicate transferred him to Buchan.
"He apparently had a steering problem but has been all right for me. I took the boring pole and some other gear off him," Buchan said.
Barclay has driven several winners for Buchan. They include Merles Boy in the 2003 Roxburgh Cup.
Lindt won easily for the Everday's A Good Day syndicate, which leased the 8yr-old mare six weeks ago. She was then transferred from Stratford trainer Ian Martin to Graeme Anderson and Amber Hoffman at Westwood Beach.
The latter have won 35 races this season, several with newcomers to their stable.
Lindt will remain in work for the final meeting of the season at Forbury Park tomorrow week.
She won two races for breeder Laurie Fleming when trained by Martin and her first start in 2008 at Cambridge for Derek Balle.
Sunny Connie, who won a maiden trot yesterday, will remain in the care of Waikouaiti trainer Bruce Negus. The 4yr-old mare was left with Negus after her previous start on June 23 by Rolleston trainer Robert Anderson. She is raced by Ashworths Beach breeders Mike and Glenis Stevens.
The 2yr-old Bedlam, who led for most of the way to win yesterday, will now be spelled.
"He can go out for a break and come back in the spring," Mark Jones, his trainer, said.
Bedlam, who ran third in his other start, is raced by Ernie and Gail Bailey, of Ohoka. They bought the Washington VC-Bedspread gelding for $10,000 at the New Zealand Premier Yearling Sale when he was offered by Nola Robinson and her daughter, Jacqui Robinson-McKenzie, and John McKenzie.
Bedspread has left Linatawa (1.52.8). The Baileys bought a half-brother by Live Or Die from the breeders this year.
Mr Bailey was in the ownership of Southern Crusader and Gibbston, who won at Forbury Park in September 2004 when trained by Gerard O'Reilly.
Jones has not long returned from a 10-day visit to France where he experienced a temperature of 38degC in contrast to the conditions yesterday which were bitterly cold at times with snow.
Thelifeofroyce won his race during a snow shower.
Jones made the trip to France to inspect horses for sale but his client, Peter Chambers, was unable to be present and no purchases were made for the stable. Jones was impressed by the size of the training facilities.
"There were 3000 horses trained on one of the farms that we visited," he said.

Temporary Use was brought down in the incident. His driver, Robin Swain, was not injured.
Manchester Tom sustained abrasions to a shoulder.
Dillon Ducati was stood down from racing until he gives a satisfactory trial.
Trainer Murray Gray was fined $200 for faulty gear after a front carrier strap of Power Within (race 2) came adrift.
