The 3yr-old trotter in the Oamaru stable of Phil Williamson has won at Roxburgh and Invercargill this season. He finished fifth in the Sires' Stakes Championship at Alexandra Park last month in a two-race Auckland campaign.
Williamson travelled to Auckland on Thursday with Irish Whisper, Springbank Sam and Russell Galleon, who are qualified for Harness Jewels races at Cambridge on June 2.
Russell Galleon is in the 2yr-old trotter section and the other two are 4yr-old trotters. Irish Whisper won a trial at Oamaru the previous day. Williamson has won Harness Jewels races for trotters with Springbank Richard (at three and four at Ashburton and Cambridge in 2007 and 2008) and Leighton Hest (at four at Ashburton in 2009).
The Williamson stable also has Beyond Me, Here Comes Pat, Miss Pegasus, Majestic Kenny and Mackenzie Jacob engaged at Oamaru.
Here Comes Pat was spelled in December after injuring a leg in a fence. The pacer Mackenzie Jacob was a first-up winner at Rangiora in November. He was spelled after three further starts that month.
Surfin Cees has been sold to Australia. He won three races for his Ardgowan owners Jeremy (the trainer) and Amanda Douglas. Surfin Cees will join the Menangle stable of Paul Fitzpatrick.
