David Butcher featured in a winning combination for the second time in an Oamaru driving series yesterday.

Butcher and his brother, Philip, both of Cambridge, won the four-race series for reinsman brothers.

They amassed 71 points, 10 ahead of their nearest rivals Gerard and Leo O'Reilly.

David drove Miss Dorie to win and he had minor placings with Cutie Patootie and Determined Lass.

Philip had a third placing.

David had won a series for father-and-son reinsman at Oamaru 12 months ago with his son Zac.

Daryl Douglas is confident Make Mine Cullen will receive one of two invitations remaining for the Miracle Mile in Sydney.

Douglas, the leading reinsman in Victoria, is the driver of Make Mine Cullen, trained by his brother Glenn.

"I can't see how she can't get an invitation. She is the fastest mare in Australia with her 1.53 mile at Menangle," Daryl Douglas said yesterday.

He has been the leading reinsman in Victoria the past five seasons with a record 338 wins in a season.

The 36-year-old has driven 3600 winners.

Glenn has been the leading trainer for Victoria the last three seasons.

The Miracle Mile is at Menangle on November 27.

The Douglas brothers were at Oamaru yesterday representing Australia.

Lyn Prendergast, the West Melton thoroughbred trainer, has been granted a training licence for standardbreds.

She has taken over the pre-paration of Talkative High, the winner of two races from the Brian Anngow stable.

Prendergast, who trains thoroughbreds in partnership with her husband, Tony, is in the ownership of Dance Band, who was successful yesterday.

She races Dance Band with John Shirley, Owen and Briget Chatterton and Annette McGrath.

The latter is the mother of Nigel McGrath, who trains the horse.
