When horses who had raced inside her with better runs were gasping for air, the Tony Pike-trained 3yr-old went to another level to win the 1400m feature.
Bookmakers moved Kali into $6 favouritism for next month's One Thousand Guineas following her emphatic victory under rider Leith Innes.
Pike simply can not wait to get his filly to Riccarton for the group 1 event.
"That was a big effort as there was plenty of early speed, and Leith had to sit three-deep, although she did get a soft sectional before the corner," Pike said.
"She's got there a touch soon and has run it out very strongly, so bring on the Guineas.
"She's only going to improve as well and is a very talented filly, so we're quite excited heading to Riccarton."
Kali had suffered a terrible run of luck heading into the group 3 feature.
That continued after the barrier draw for Saturday's race, in which she drew the widest possible gate.
Innes pushed forward from that barrier before his filly was trapped wide throughout.
"There wasn't much we could do with the draw but we were keen for her to roll forward as she had been very unlucky in her last two starts," Pike said.
Karalino, who had enjoyed cover when racing in midfield, ran on strongly to get within half a length of Kali to run second.
Folk Dress, who followed the leader, Miss Federer, ran on into third, a further length and a-half away.
Miss Federer disappointed when fading into eighth.
Hype horse Okay Pal dropped out badly to run last.
The 3yr-old was found to have a high heart rate and a poor recovery rate following a vet inspection.
Riccarton Mare Morweka remains unbeaten this season following her win in the Ashburton Cup on Saturday.
Rider Lisa Allpress had the Terri Rae-trained 6yr-old on the pace throughout and she went on to win by a length and a-quarter.
Prince Oz, who carried 6kg more than the winner, put in a strong race to run second.
