Harley Earl back from injury in style

Harley Earl won a trial at Addington yesterday in his first public appearance for two years.

Harley Earl, the winner of 10 races, including seven at 3, was forced aside with a tendon injury after he contested the Chariots Of Fire at Menangle in July, 2010.

"We brought him back into work but he just needed more time to recover," Brendon Hill, his Kaiapoi trainer, said.

The Artsplace 6yr-old entire came off a 40m handicap over 2600m yesterday and ran his last 800m in 57.9 and 400 in 27.2.

His stablemates, Beach Bunny and Dakota Grace, also won heats yesterday.

The unbeaten Beach Bunny, who has not raced since November, ran his last 800m in 57.5 and 400 in 28.1. He won his three starts this season as a 3yr-old.

Dakota Grace was due to resume racing at Addington on July 6 but she bumped a leg on the morning of the meeting.

She has not raced since March.

"I will just keep them ticking over at workouts. It suits us to miss racing this week with Ricky [May, the stable reinsman] away," Hill said.

Moment of Truth, a winner at Alexandra Park last Friday night, has a claiming price of $5000 there this Friday. The 9yr-old trotter has won 14 races and $120,000 in stakes.
