The stallion ranks at Northern Southland stud Macca Lodge have continued to expand following the addition of former star North American pacer Fear The Dragon.
The $US1.5 million ($NZ2.25 million) earner will be available via frozen semen at a service fee of $4500.
Studmaster Brent McIntyre said he jumped at the opportunity to stand such a well-performed pacer.
''He is the best-performed horse we have stood down here. He was arguably the best 3yr-old in North America three years ago.
''He won the North America Cup and the Adios; he was right up there.''
Fear The Dragon won 12 of his 18 starts as a 3yr-old and registered a winning mile time of 1:48.8.
McIntyre said Fear The Dragon's pedigree was as appealing as his race record.
Fear The Dragon is by Dragon Again from a Western Ideal mare, which means he does not share the bloodlines of many of the country's top stallions.
That makes him the perfect option for owners of mares by leading sires such as Bettor's Delight, Art Major and Mach Three, McIntyre said.
''He is an outcross stallion, being by Dragon Again out of a Western Ideal mare,'' McIntyre said.
''He was tested and his semen is very good, so there should be no problems getting mares in foal.''
Securing the services of Fear The Dragon came just days after Macca Lodge added French Trotting sire En Solitaire to its line up.
The pair join Panspacificflight, Net Ten EOM and Franco Ledger in the Northern Southland stud's siring ranks.
