He produced ex-North Island gallopers Kate The Great and Nigella Jazz for wins at Wingatui yesterday.
Blair-Edie’s stable star Come Fly With Me also looks well placed for back-to-back victories in the Southland Crystals, the feature race at Ascot Park today.
Nigella Jazz overcame a shock failure in her last start at Gore to win race 7 yesterday.
Rider Lee Callaway shot the Niagara mare straight to the front in yesterday’s 1400m maiden, and she held off the late finish of Lunar Lady to win.
"She went quite well at Winton, but she doesn’t like heavy ground and she choked down at Gore," Blair-Edie said.
"She has taken a bit of sorting out, but now that we have got the right gear on her she is fine.
"She is a big strong mare."
Kate The Great produced an even more impressive victory when winning the preceding race on the Wingatui programme, with Callaway in the saddle.
The Per Canto mare was stuck out three-wide for all of yesterday’s 1200m, but that did not stop her from toughing out a good victory.
Come Fly With Me’s 56kg makes her seem well-placed for today’s $35,000 Southland Crystals.
The St Reims mare ran a gutsy race for third behind Kaharau in the Cromwell Cup this month.
"She has come through Cromwell well," Blair-Edie said.
"It is harder when you are up in the grade; she had been carrying big weights in her past three starts.
"Ascot Park is a track she has performed on quite a few times."
Gallant Boy ran second to Come Fly With Me in the race last year, and he looks one of her main rivals.
The Brian and Shane Anderton-trained galloper meets his rival 3kgs better off than he did in the race last year.
Blair-Edie has a host of chances in today’s Invercargill Christmas At The Races meeting.
Waimate Bill is a leading chance in race 4. The horse unleashed a big finish to run fourth in his last Cromwell start.
Wild Jack also looks a strong chance for him in race 5 over 1600m.
He clashes with classy mare The Precious One in a rating 82 race.
Blair-Edie also starts Stellacanto in race 1, Moss Jazz in race 2, Trizac in race 3 and He’s Mi Brother in race 8.
