The Dunedin club made the women's final for the first time, where it was beaten 3-1 by Tauranga.
Hill, the former Otago Rebels netballer and recently appointed national volleyball skipper, was key to the Scorpions' success with her dominant spiking.
The women's final was highlighted by long rallies, with both teams defending well and keeping the ball flying.
Tauranga had the star of the tournament in Teina Savage, who initiated the majority of attacks with her ability to spike into space.
Tauranga won the first set 25-21 but the Scorpions played superbly to take the second set by the same score.
The third set proved to be decisive as Tauranga was able to make the key plays and win 25-21, giving it momentum as it won the fourth set 25-16 to take the game.
It was Tauranga's second national title.
Volleyball's strength has traditionally been in the south Auckland and Bay of Plenty areas, so for the Scorpions to represent the South in a final was a fine achievement.
They got to the final after coming from two sets down to beat defending champion Wellington in the semifinal.
Wellington seemed to be cruising into the final before the Scorpions, inspired by excellent defence and more powerful spiking from Hill, won the third and fourth sets and held their nerve in the deciding set to win 15-12.
The Scorpions men's team did not have quite as successful a tournament, though it did push finalist Victoria to five sets.
The North Harbour Raiders won the men's title with a shut-out of the Victoria Eagles in the final.
