The stage is set for a thrilling finish to the Dunedin premier men's club competition.
With two games remaining in the regular season, there is a three-team battle for two playoff spots.
Cardinals (12-7, 56 points) goes into the Champions Cup as the No 1 seed, regardless of whether it beats Saints in the final weekend or not.
But the battle to qualify for the 2 v 3 game is intense, with Ellis Park Maroon (49 points), Saints (45) and Dodgers (43) all in the hunt. All three teams have 10-9 records, and are only separated by bonus points.
The other game that will decide playoff spots is between Ellis Park Maroon and Dodgers.
Ellis Park Gold (6-14, 28 points) has completed its season.
Cardinals warmed up for the finals with a real statement of intent, a 5-0 win over Dodgers, on Saturday.
The sides combined for just six hits in 12 combined innings, with pitchers Steve Willis (Cardinals) and Ben Watts (Dodgers) in form.
While Watts (deservedly) gets a lot of attention, it was Willis' game. He pitched six blank innings, conceded just two hits and had 11 strikeouts.
The key offensive contributors for Cardinals were home run king Crete Whaanga, whose solo blast in the second inning was his league-leading eighth of the season, and Simon Maole, who singled in a pair of runs in the third.
Saints piled on six runs in the second inning to charge to a quickfire 8-3 win over Ellis Park Maroon.
The inning started with a Tim Howard double, and featured a two-run Michael O'Neill triple.
Two Saints runners also came home on wild pitches in the bottom of the fourth, as promising Maroon hurler Krizevac Tuitea lost his control.
In the late game, Dodgers dominated the seventh and final inning to beat Saints 4-2.
Dodgers held a 2-0 lead through five, with Matthew Watts tripling and scoring in the third, and brother Ben brought home by Wayne Sangster in the fourth.
Saints levelled the scores in the bottom of the sixth, before Dodgers sealed the win with a run-scoring Blayne Howe single and a run on a fielding error.
In another good pitching duel, Sam Jones (Saints) conceded just four hits through seven innings and had seven strikeouts, while Watts had 10, taking him to 20 for the day and 108 for the season.
