Rain, rain, go away.

That is the fervent hope of Softball Otago, which is desperate for a fine weekend to complete the 2011-12 season.

A frenzied final day at Ellis Park is planned following the cancellation of last Saturday's games because of bad weather.

Two regular season games remain, with Saints to play Cardinals, and Dodgers to play Ellis Park Maroon, tomorrow.

Both games start at 12.30pm and will have to stick to a strict 90-minute time limit.

For Cardinals (56 points), the game is a mere warm-up, as they are already assured of a place in the Champions Cup final. But Ellis Park Maroon (49), Saints (45) and Dodgers (43) are all in the hunt for the preliminary final at 2.15pm, again with the time restriction.

The winner of the No 2 v No 3 game will meet Cardinals in a one-off Champions Cup game at 4pm, with no time limit.

"It's disappointing that we can't fit in a three-game series, but with the weather dumping on us almost every Saturday there is little choice," Softball Otago boss Jill Johnson said.

"The preference is to finish with full-strength teams and we will have to keep our fingers crossed for a fine Saturday."

Meanwhile, Otago players Steve Willis and Ben Watts have been picked up by teams for the national club championships in Auckland starting on Tuesday.

Willis will join Eden Roskill, and Watts will play for Papanui.
