World champion freeskier Jossi Wells is positive an injured ankle will not stop him from competing on his home turf at the world junior snowboarding and freestyle championships next week.

Wells broke the ankle about two months ago in a skateboarding accident.

He said the time spent recuperating had allowed his body a chance to refresh after the grind of a busy northern hemisphere season.

He is yet to clip into his skis to test his ankle, but is upbeat about the prospect of lining up beside younger brothers Byron and Beau-James in the slopestyle and halfpipe competitions.

"My ankle is still getting there. I haven't tested it out just yet, but I should be able to compete. I'll do a couple of runs first and I should be sweet to go from there," he said.
