Bodies will be on the line for the large national and inter-national field competing in this weekend's New Zealand Mountain Bike Cup at Coronet Peak.
The national event included the North and South Island downhill and cross-country cups and promised exciting spectator action, Coronet Peak Ski Area manager Hamish McCrostie said.
"Over three days of competition, spectators can expect to see the country's best riders, including current Oceania champion Kieran Bennett, New Zealand's highest world ranked rider Justin Leov and newly signed Italian (Ancillotti) team rider Brook MacDonald, as well as a number of international competitors."
On Saturday, top riders will compete in the South Island downhill competition, while Sunday will see the final round of competition for the South Island cross-country title.
McCrostie said competition would start at 10am each day, with spectators having the choice of watching the action track side, or from a "safe distance" on the sheltered deck of the Coronet Peak base building.
The South Island downhill series will conclude at Blenheim on February 21 and 22.
The Coronet Peak Bike Park will be closed for public riding during the event but will reopen on February 17, weather permitting.
