Her game reached a new level at the McMillan Centre yesterday, when she hit the back of the net three times.
It gave the Maniototo 40s a commanding 8-0 win over the Dunedin Evergreen Golds in the final of the over-40 competition.
Pyle (48) was one of three players from the Maniototo team who were selected in the Southern Districts team for the New Zealand Masters hockey tournament at Palmerston North next month. The others were Belinda Scott and Nat Blakely.
Pyle, who lives on a sheep farm in the Ida Valley, started playing hockey at the Maniototo Area School.
She is one of four sisters who were members of the Maniototo team that has been unbeaten at four New Zealand Masters Games.
Her sister is Diane Brenssell, who scored the first goal of the game. Their maiden name was Skinner.
Belinda Scott (nee Elder) and Sarah Caldwell were the second group of sisters. Their mother, Julie McSkimming, played for the Black Sticks.
The other sisters in the team were Jude McMillan (nee Wahrlich) and Pauline Spratt; and Jo Weir (nee French) and Nat Blakely.
The Maniototo team has won the gold medal at the last four New Zealand Masters Games in Dunedin.
Jane Harris scored two of Maniototo's four goals in the first half to put the game out of reach of the Dunedin team.
She was a rugged defender in the midfield when she played a more defensive role in the second spell, to keep her team on top.
Belinda Scott was the outstanding forward in the Maniototo team with her ability to get possession in an attacking position and send an accurate pass across the goal face. Pyle scored two of her goals from these hits.
"We don't practise but we gel once we get on the paddock," Pyle said.
