Otago squash players are going to be treated to some words of advice from one of New Zealand’s best.
Glen Wilson is running coaching workshops in Dunedin for juniors, seniors and groups starting tomorrow until Sunday.
Wilson was a three-time New Zealand champion during his playing career, and won bronze at the 1998 Commonwealth Games, gold at the 2002 Commonwealth Games and silver at the 2004 world championships, all in the mixed doubles.
He has since turned his hand to coaching and was head coach for the 2018 and 2022 Commonwealth Games national teams.
He was inducted into the Squash Hall of Fame last year.
Wilson is visiting family in Dunedin and offered his services to Squash Otago during his trip south.
Squash Otago executive officer Aynsley Munro said the sessions schedule filled up within 24 hours with players jumping at the chance to learn from the best.
"His high profile obviously says it all, really," Munro said.
"Obviously we like the idea that he’s catering [for all]. It’s not just the best.
"It’s a profile for the sport as well and showing that we’re looking after grassroots, really."
