New Zealand golfer Lydia Ko takes a break on the 18th hole at Le Golf National in Paris after a practice round earlier this week.

Ko teed off in the women’s Olympic tournament late last night.

She is seeking to complete the set of medals after winning silver at Rio 2016 and bronze in Tokyo three years ago.

New Zealand sports fans might wake up to more medals.

The red-hot women’s pursuit track cycling team, including Central Otago rider Nicole Shields, were the top qualifiers and strong contenders for gold, Eliza McCartney was the best of the three New Zealand women in the pole vault final, and Micah Wilkinson and Erica Dawson were well placed for a medal in the Nacra sailing.
