Netball: University-Albion B stuns Phys Ed A

University-Albion B midcourters Ashley Mulholland and Marise Stuart laid the ground work for an upset victory over Phys Ed A in the Dunedin premier tournament on Saturday.

Mulholland and Stuart were superb in the centre of the court for the underdogs, helping guide their side to a 59-49 win.

Stuart was tenacious on defence and picked up some crucial turnovers.

Not to be denied, University-Albion B answered with an fierce onslaught, outscoring its opponent 21-8 to take an unassailable lead into the final period.

The sides traded goals in the final spell.

Damsteegt landed 45 from 55 in an impressive performance.

Her side badly missed defender Jess Moulds who had commitments with the New Zealand Under-21 squad.

University-Albion A continued the good weekend for the club with a 73-33 demolition of Southern B.

Shooters Lizzie Sandom (37 from 44) and Kirsten Craig (36 from 39) were in good touch.
