Otago has made a brilliant start to the Lois Muir Challenge, winning its opening three matches at the Auckland Netball Centre over the weekend.
Otago dispatched Auckland Waitakere 71-44 in a confidence-boosting display on Saturday and later held off a determined challenge from Waikato to win 52-45.
It rounded out the opening round with a 25-goal drubbing of Bay of Plenty yesterday morning.
Western is the only other unbeaten side with three straight wins, while Cook Strait won three of its four matches.
Otago's next match is against Canterbury at the Edgar Centre this weekend.
Canterbury beat the winless Counties Manukau but lost to Waikato.
The Otago Lois Muir development team has a talented squad which includes New Zealand age-group representatives Shannon Francois, Emily Close, Clair Kersten, Jaimee Power, Jess Moulds and Te Paea Selby-Rickit, and experienced shooter Greir Campbell and Otago defender Louise Thayer.
Otago won the inaugural tournament which serves as a feeder competition for the ANZ Championship.
