The Auckland-based NRL club played a pre-season game against the Brisbane Broncos last February at Forsyth Barr Stadium and it was a resounding success on all fronts.
A vocal crowd of more than 15,000 came to the match and the Warriors enjoyed the occasion, picking up a close 16-10 victory over a somewhat unlucky Broncos outfit.
Throw in a halftime streaker, expertly lowered by Warriors trainer Reuben Wiki, and it was a memorial night out for all.
The success of the night led to speculation more top-class rugby league would be coming to the stadium next season.
Warriors management had expressed delight at the crowd for the game in February.
Dunedin Venues Management Ltd commercial director Guy Hedderwick said when contacted he could not comment on the likelihood of getting a game back to the stadium.
There had been some talks over getting a game of league at the stadium, but nothing had been signed.
Last year's game was in late February, so if any game is to be played at the same time then an announcement is expected soon.
The Warriors have yet to announce their pre-season games, but have traditionally played throughout the country.
Warriors chief executive Wayne Scurrah could not be contacted yesterday.
The Warriors play their first full NRL match in the first weekend of March. They have already confirmed their home games in the 2014 competition will be played at Mt Smart Stadium and Eden Park in Auckland, with one game at Westpac Stadium in Wellington.
Last season's Warriors game was played as part of a double header weekend. The Highlanders opened their season against the Chiefs on the Friday night and the Warriors played the following night.
The Highlanders kick off their season on February 22, a Saturday night, against the Blues, again at the stadium.
