The Sydney Roosters will be without playmaker Mitchell Pearce for their must-win NRL semi-final against Canterbury after he failed to recover from a hamstring injury.
This morning coach Trent Robinson said the NSW Origin star was a 60 percent chance of playing and had to get through a final fitness test.
However, Pearce later told Channel 10 he had failed in his bid to be passed fit.
Pearce will now hope the Roosters get through Friday's clash with the Bulldogs and aim to return for the preliminary final against Brisbane next week.
