Hockey: Future stars, if they stick with it

The hockey programme, which has been held nationwide, started running in Otago this year and has been popular with youngsters, with about 2000 children between the ages of 5 and 12 from schools around Otago taking part.

The programme is set for various abilities and tries to teach children the skills of the game.

It is hoped the skills learnt will make the children more comfortable when they get out on the turf to play.
