There was little change to places at the top of the leader boards in the men's and seniors sections after the third round of the national left-handed championships on the Chisholm Links yesterday.
Ben Patston (Otago) remains at the top of the men's section while David Fraser (Alexandra) continues to run away with the senior title.
The 84 competitors found scoring more difficult yesterday with some blustery winds causing problems, particularly on the Lawyer's Head hole.
Patston added a 3-over 74 to his previous two rounds of 72 to increase his lead by one, finishing five shots ahead of Mike Wray (Island Park).
Patston started on the seventh hole and was 2-over three holes later with a double-bogey six on Lawyer's Head.
He birdied 11 but bogeyed 12 and 14 before clawing two back with birdies on 16 and 18.
After a bogey at the first and a birdie at the third, he looked set for another 72 but late bogeys on the fifth and sixth holes put him 3-over for the day.
Wray also started from the seventh, bogeying 10 and 11, 16, 18 and the fifth with one solitary birdie on the par-5 15th.
In the seniors event, Fraser posted his worst round of 8-over 79 but still managed to increase his lead on the field from 12 to 16 shots.
The final round of this year's championships will start at 9am.
