New All White Andrew Durante edged out international teammate Jeremy Brockie to win the top gong at Wellington Phoenix's award night.

The central defender, capped by New Zealand this year despite being born in Sydney, was named the Phoenix's player of the year for a second time to deny Brockie a clean sweep of the major awards.

The 30-year-old, who also won the award in 2010, presided over a tumultuous season for the Wellington side, in which foundation coach Ricki Herbert was dumped and the club finished bottom of the A-League.

Brockie, who scored 16 goals this season, won players' player of the year to go with his Golden Boot award.

Louis Fenton, 20, was under-23 player of the year.
