Fifa trophy goes on jam-packed tour around city

With the Fifa Women’s World Cup trophy at Logan Park High School in Dunedin (below) are Trinity Catholic College footballers Georgia Kennedy (18, left) and Abby Simpson (16).

The trophy is on tour in Dunedin ahead of the tournament beginning on July 20.

A pop-up football event is being held at 12.30pm to 1.30pm at Otago Museum Reserve and the trophy, along with the tournament’s mascot, will be at Wall Street Mall from 3.30pm to 5.30pm today.

Tomorrow morning the trophy will be at junior football at Kensington Oval before going to the Edgar Centre between 2.30pm and 4pm.

Among the other stops in its tour of the city are the Dunedin Midwinter Carnival tomorrow and polar plunge at St Clair on Sunday.
