Albion 131 for eight lost to
Taieri 132 for one by nine wickets
Taieri leaned on the bat of Jarryd Taig to record a comfortable win over Albion at Logan Park as club cricket switched back to twenty20 games in the run-up to Christmas.
Skipper Taylor Cumberland scored an impressive 61 for Albion but no-one else helped him out. The Frost brothers picked up two wickets each to limit the Albion challenge.
Taig was strong in reply, scoring an unbeaten 83 including 62 runs in boundaries. Josh Casey hit a quickfire 35 as Taieri won with 17 balls to spare.
North East Valley 150 for nine
beat Kaikorai 120 for nine by 30 runs
An unbeaten 39 run partnership for the 10th wicket by Adam Flegg and Florian Schmidt was the difference between the sides at Bishopscourt.
Ruan Markham and Llew Johnson each scored 31 for North East Valley but when Jamie Murley departed at 111, Kaikorai would have been hoping for a quick wicket and a small run-chase. Jordan Gain grabbed four wickets for Kaikorai and then scored 35 in opening the reply.
But he went at 59 and Kaikorai kept losing wickets at the wrong time.
Carisbrook Dunedin 76 all out
lost to Green Island 78 for three by seven wickets
Carisbrook-Dunedin put up a limp effort at Logan Park against Green Island.
Ryan Duffy scored 32 opening but wickets fell at regular intervals with Gregor Croudis and Mark Joyce picking up four wickets each.
The combined side was out in the 13th over. Green Island attacked the target and got there just past the halfway mark. Croudis scored a brisk 27 to wrap up a fine all round effort.
Taieri 113 for nine lost to
Green Island 117 for seven by three wickets
In the afternoon games, Green Island won in a low-scoring encounter at Logan Park.Taieri tallied 113 in its 20 overs, with Casey scoring an attractive 43. But it could not score enough runs in the final five overs and would have been disappointed with only 113.
In reply, Green Island started well and was cruising at 85 for one wicket. But it lost five wickets within the space of seven runs and when Brad Wilson went for 26 there was the threat of an upset win.
But Dion Lobb came in and scored the runs to guide Green Island to victory.
Kaikorai 161 for five wickets
beat Carisbrook-Dunedin 150 for six wickets by 11 runs
Matt Hunter steered Kaikorai to victory in an even battle against Carisbrook-Dunedin at Bishopscourt.
Hunter opened the innings and was unbeaten on 93 at the end of 20 overs. No-one else got to 20 as Kaikorai tallied a competitive 161. Hunter hit 70 runs in boundaries with a strike rate of more than 140.
In reply the visiting team had a decent attempt at the target with Kane McKay and Kieran Eathorne combining for a 60 run partnership.But it ran out of opportunities and came up 11 runs short.
North East Valley 159 for
seven beat Albion 143 by 16 runs
The Valley side started well and did enough to beat Albion at Logan Park.
Will Kindley and Tom Griffin combined in an opening stand of 82, which was the base of the healthy total put up.
Josh Tasman-Jones started the chase off well for Albion but it was only when Jamie Glenn and Tim Ford came together that Albion started to come into contention. But Albion came up 16 runs short.
