Scott stars for Green Is

Green Island 194 beat
Albion 108 by 86 runs

Bradley Scott is usually dangerous with the ball but he let his bat do the talking on Saturday, leading his side to a convincing win over Albion at Sunnyvale.

Scott came to the wicket when his side had lost its first three wickets for just 23 runs.Scott found an ally in Joel Meade and the duo put on a 68-run stand before Meade departed. The duo just ticked the score over with some intelligent batting and when Meade went, Regan Cairns came to the wicket and continued  the good work with Scott.

Scott was eventually the ninth batsman out with a well-compiled 83 as Green Island pushed through to 194.

In reply, Albion got off to a poor start with its first four batsmen all departing to leg before wicket dismissals. Though the pitch was a green top, there was not a lot of sideways movement.

Harrison Durrkin and Tom Ford settled down in the middle order for Albion and got the side almost through to drinks in the midway stage. But Durrkin was stumped before the drinks break and from there, Albion fell apart.

Carisbrook-Dunedin 176 beat
Kaikorai 135 by 41 runs

A good opening partnership by Carisbrook-Dunedin and a solid effort from the middle order was in the end the difference between it and defending champion Kaikorai at Tonga Park.

Anjas Bhogal and Brad Horne put on 49 runs for the first wicket as the home team batted first. Runs were hard to come by but with Sean Eathorne, Taine Bayly and Kieran Eathorne all chipping in from the middle order, Carisbrook-Dunedin managed to get up to 176 into the 45th over.

Kaikorai also got off to a good start and was halfway to the target with only one wicket down. However, its middle order failed to fire and it lost five wickets for nine runs.Carisbrook-Dunedin opening bowler Riki Ashwell picked up three wickets. Youngster Kurt Johnston grabbed a couple of wickets and Rhys Phillips bowled tightly in his 10-over spell.

North East Valley 138 beat
Taieri 73 by 65 runs

Young left-arm spinner Ben Lockrose took six wickets in just under five overs but it was not enough to get Taieri home over North East Valley.

The youngster, who hails from Southland but boards at Otago Boys’ High School, bowled 4.5 overs and took six wickets for seven runs. He was hit for a six so it was a great display of controlled bowling at Brooklands. Bradley Frost picked up the other four wickets bowling for Taieri.

North East Valley scored 138 in its turn at bat. Anthony Wilkinson scored 30 at the top of the order and Ruan Markham knocked up an unbeaten 32, which was enough for the victors. In reply, Taieri had only two players in double figures, with extras top-scoring, notching 17.
