Otago beat Northern Districts by 49 runs yesterday to clinch a spot in the final of the national under-19 tournament in Lincoln.
Northeast Valley all-rounder Hunter Kindley top-scored with 94 from 90 deliveries to help Otago post 285 for eight for its 50 overs.
Jamie Moore led the chase for Northern with an undefeated innings of 89 from 71 deliveries. But he ran out of support, partly due to the effort of Carisbrook-Dunedin’s Kurt Johnston, who grabbed three for 44.Northern was eventually dismissed for 236.
Kindley scored 106 from 104 deliveries against Northern Districts on Tuesday, so he is in good touch for today’s final against Auckland.
Auckland beat Wellington by 89 runs in the other semifinal and will be full of confidence having recorded a comprehensive 175-run win against Otago earlier in the tournament.
Auckland reached 237 for nine but bowled Otago out for just 62.
