Albion coach Tony Branks confirmed the 36-year-old off-spinner would play for the Eagles in the regional final of the national club knockout tournament against Taieri at Tonga Park.
McCullum confirmed his availability to Branks on Thursday. He is in Dunedin on business and was looking to get in a game of cricket. McCullum could not be reached for comment but he is rumoured to be heading over to Pakistan to play in the domestic twenty20 competition over there.
McCullum’s presence will certainly lift Albion, although the team was already the warm favourite to win the game and secure the region’s berth at the national finals in Auckland later this year.
McCullum played 84 ODIs and 63 international twenty20 games for the Blacks Caps, taking a combined 121 wickets.
He stood out with his athleticism in the field and also scored some handy runs, whacking four ODI half-centuries.McCullum will be hoping he goes a bit better than when his younger brother Brendon McCullum last played for the club in December 2013. Brendon was bowled for eight by Taieri’s Jack Hunter when he tried to leave the delivery.
