Green Island 179/7 beat CDK 92

Green Island’s Elliot Santner helped set up a 90-run win by DLS method against CDK at Sunnyvale as the Dunedin premier competition finally resumed on Saturday.

The conditions were not ideal for the great summer game and the artificial pitch was doing plenty.

Green Island slumped to 27 for four before Santner, the brother of Black Caps left-arm spinner Mitchell, counterattacked.

He smacked two sixes and five fours and got solid support from Joel Meade (24) and Navi Deol (44).

The Swamp Rats got through to 179 for seven.

Thomas O’Connor, son of former Black Cap Shayne, was the best of the CDK bowlers. He took three for 35.

CDK chased a revised total of 182, which proved well out of reach. They were rolled for 92.

Hamish Wilson mopped up the tail with three for four from 2.4 overs, and Mayank Malhotra took two for 13 from five.

Lucky Singh top-scored for CDK with 27.

Deol and Yuvraj Khara transferred from CDK to Green Island this season and Saturday’s win was the pair’s first in the Dunedin premier grade.

North East Valley 84 lost to Albion 89/6

Sometimes 30-odd is enough.

Otago batter Jamal Todd belted 31 from 21 balls to help Albion post a four-wicket win over North East Valley at Memorial Park.

The going was tough for batters.

North East Valley, who are chasing a third consecutive title, batted first and were routed for 84.

The wickets were spread around. Tommy Clout (two for 24), Lahiru Vimukthi (two for 11), Patrick Arnold (two for 16) and Joshua Olliver (three for nine) teamed up to dismiss the Swans cheaply.

Harry Kidd top-scored with 17.

Albion’s chase did not prove that easy. Opener Dylan Fletcher stroked 19 from 18 balls and Todd clouted five fours during his stay.

But the wickets kept falling.

Henry Dobson took four for 24 and Kaleb McKay nabbed two for 40.

Matthew West tonked a six from the last ball of the 14th over to seal the win.

Taieri 215/9 beat University Grange 132

Ruben Clinton led Taieri to a comfortable 83-run win over University-Grange with a strong all-round performance at Memorial Park.

The opener made 41 at the top of the innings and combined with Cam Elliott (35) to put on 79 for the first wicket. Kevin Loggenberg top-scored with 56 to help Taieri post 215 for nine.

Hirishi Bolar took three for 13 in 10 tight overs, and Joel Pannel nabbed three for 47 for University-Grange.

Clinton took three for 18 to help roll University-Grange for 132. Loggenberg grabbed two for 19 to complete an impressive match as well.

Otago opener Jacob Cumming top-scored for University-Grange with 32. He had eye surgery earlier in the week.
