New Zealand have lost their opening Twenty20 fixture against the English women's side at Westpac Stadium in Wellington this afternoon.
After losing the toss and batting first, New Zealand posted only 80-9 from their 20 overs, which was largely built around Kate Broadmore's unbeaten 27.
Their paltry total was never going to be enough and despite the odd jitter, England cruised to a six-wicket victory in the 18th over with wicketkeeper Sarah Taylor making 31 not out.
Broadmore was the pick of the bowlers for the home side with 1-11 from four overs, including two maidens.
The teams clash again in Hamilton on Sunday.
