Cricket: England's Kevin Pietersen becomes dad

England cricket star Kevin Pietersen has become a father for the first time after his wife Jessica gave birth to a son. 

Announcing the birth on his website on Monday, Pietersen said the baby was born without complication and both wife and child are "doing brilliantly."

Pietersen flew home from the Twenty20 world championship in the Caribbean to be at the birth. He missed today's match against New Zealand but is due to return after spending two days with his wife and son.

The couple did not reveal a name for the baby.
