Classy all-rounder Anthony Bullick led University-Grange to a solid win against North East Valley as normal club cricket resumed on Saturday.
The franchise-based summer competition has finished, so players have gone back to their eight club teams to play one-day declaration games.
Bullick took five wickets and smashed 71 as University-Grange beat Valley by 17 runs at Tonga Park.
There were also five-wicket bags at Brooklands, where Rhys Phillips bowled superbly to lead Carisbrook-Dunedin to victory against Taieri, and at Bishopscourt, where Will Deerness was in dominant form but could not save Kaikorai from losing to Albion.
There was a rare default in senior club cricket, with Pelichet Bay unable to field a side against Green Island.
University-Grange 235 for seven dec beat NEV 218 by 17 runs at Tonga Park
First with the bat, then with the ball - Bullick gave his University-Grange side two chances to beat North East Valley on Saturday.
Bullick top-scored with 71 as University-Grange posted a competitive total of 235 before declaring after 54 overs.
His side had slipped to 17 for two before Jesse Simpson (26) and Sam Wells (33) put on 60 for the third wicket.
When they fell in quick succession, Bullick and Will Somerville set about building a total and added 121 for the fifth wicket, with Somerville playing a classic supporting act with 43.
Bullick then turned destroyer with the ball, ripping into North East Valley's top order and finishing with the excellent figures of five for 67 off 19 overs.
Wells chipped in with three wickets as North East Valley, despite good knocks from Gary Paine (78) and Mat Harvie (53), was dismissed for 218 in the 51st over.
Carisbrook-Dunedin 153 beat Taieri 134 at Brooklands
No batsman passed 40 as Brooklands proved a happy hunting ground for the bowlers.
Nick Eathorne top-scored in the game with 37 as Carisbrook-Dunedin got to 153 batting first.
James Hogg (26) and Tony McEntyre (22) were the only other batsmen to get going, with Tony Hannagan, Reuben Simpson, Craig Stanway and Dwayne Weir all taking two wickets for Taieri.
Stanway (27) and Ant Harris (21) made a promising start for Taieri but the innings fell away as Phillips (five for 32 off 11 overs) found his line and the home side fell for 134.
Kaikorai 134 lost to Albion 135 for nine by one wicket at BishopscourtAlbion squeaked past Kaikorai with one wicket to spare in another game dominated by the bowlers.
Chasing a target of 135, Albion lost wickets at regular intervals but knocked off most of the chase thanks to Nathan King (51).
Deerness (five for 63 off 21.1 overs) then ripped the middle order apart, leaving Albion needing 22 runs with three wickets in hand.
Then it was nine runs with two wickets in hand, and finally Peter Cairns and Jeremy Medlin were the last men at the crease with two runs needed.
They got there with two singles.
Earlier, Nick Cape (four for 40) and Medlin (three for 48) were the best of the Albion bowlers as Kaikorai was dismissed for 134.
