The Otago Nuggets have added a newcomer to their guard line-up.
Pafe Momoisea has signed with the team.
A 21-year-old shooting guard from Auckland, Momoisea has been on a basketball scholarship at Lincoln University in Christchurch.
Before that, he spent time at Coker College in the United States.
Most recently he played for the New Zealand Select team at the National Basketball League’s 3x3 Cup.
Momoisea, whose brother Jirah plays for the Newcastle Knights in the NRL, is the Nuggets’ second confirmed signing for next year.
The other is centre Sam Timmins.
The franchise has said it was in talks with several others, although it has yet to confirm any additional players.
Both the Southland Sharks and Canterbury Rams have inked four signatures.
The Sharks boast a handy quartet in Alex Pledger, Dom Kelman-Poto, Alonzo Burton and Toby Gillooly.
The Rams, who have lost Gillooly, have signed Jack Salt, Taylor Britt, Joe Cook-Green and Quintin Bailey.
Dane Brooks and Isaac Davidson give the Franklin Bulls a very good duo, while the Wellington Saints have picked up Taane Samuel, Kane Keil and Dion Prewster.
Jayden Bezzant will return to the Manawatu Jets, while the 2020 league MVP Tom Vodanovich has joined the Auckland Huskies.
The Nelson Giants, Taranaki Mountainairs and Hawke’s Bay Hawks are yet to confirm any players.
The league begins on April 24, the Nuggets tipping off the season against the Wellington Saints at the Edgar Centre.
