The Otago Nuggets have added some high-flying excitement to their roster.

Keith Williams has signed with the team for this year’s National Basketball League season.

The former University of Cincinnati star is the first of the team’s imports to be unveiled.

He joins Sam Timmins, Josh Aitcheson and Nikau McCullough as confirmed players on the roster.

A 1.96m swingman from New York, Williams brings an impressive college CV and an eye-catching highlight reel.

The 23-year-old is explosive going to the hoop and has the ability to create for himself, while also bringing a jump shot that improved throughout his college career.

In his final year at Cincinnati, he averaged 14.3 points per game, to go with 4.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.2 steals per game.

It was a season which led him to be named in the all-conference second team for the American Athletic Conference — an impressive honour in one of college basketball’s top conferences.

Prior to his college career, Williams was the New York City high school player of the year in his final season, averaging 24.2 points and 12.6 rebounds per game for Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School.

The Nuggets’ season begins next Thursday, when they face the Nelson Giants in Nelson.

More players are to announced in the coming days.
