Catherine Lund and Matthew Bolter withstood some tough competition to secure under-20 titles at the Otago cross-country championships yesterday.
Lund (Ariki) won the women’s 6km event with her time of 22min 42sec, holding off rival Zara Geddes (Hill City-University) finishing second in 23min 37sec at Chisholm Park.
Bolter (Hill City) ran to victory in the men’s 8km event, finishing in 28min 25sec, just ahead of Hill City team-mate Thomas White in 28min 45sec. Hill City won the men’s under-20 team race.
Margie Campbell (Leith) was too strong winning the senior women’s 10km in 43min 12sec and fellow Leith runner Grayson Westgate secured the senior men’s 10km finishing in 36min 46sec.
Leith also won the senior women’s team event, while Hill City took out the men’s team race.
In the masters 35-49 races, Aly Craigie (Hill City) won the women’s 6km event in 27min 7sec and fellow Hill City athlete Oliver O’Sullivan smoked the men’s event in 27min 59sec.
Hill City continued to dominate the masters grades, with Georgina Pakeho winning the women’s 50-64 6km race in 27min 58sec and Simon Rhodes won the men’s 50-64 8km race in 33min 36sec.
Dalise Sanderson (Ariki) was victorious in the masters women’s 65-plus 4km race, with her time of 24min 22sec, and Ash Dustow (Leith) won the men’s 6km race in 28min 49sec.
Lisa Lokman (Hill City) won the women’s under-18 5km race, finishing in 21min 43sec and Rocky Allan (Caversham) won the men’s under-18 6km event in 22min 32sec
