Time in role ‘a privilege’

The chairman of Invercargill City Council’s risk and assurance committee Bruce Robertson has tendered his resignation.

Mr Robertson, who became chairman of the committee in 2019 said he had enjoyed his time in the role.

"It has been a privilege to serve the community and the councillors through what has been an eventful period of political and managerial change for council. I’m pleased to step down from the role of chair having helped guide the council through these times," he said.

Invercargill Mayor Nobby Clark thanked Mr Robertson for the hard work and leadership he had shown during his tenure.

"Bruce has done a great job of helping guide the council through some difficult times. His experience in the local government space has been invaluable."

From July 1, Ross Jackson has been appointed as independent chairman of the committee.

Mr Jackson who has been an independent member of the committee for four years, has experience in governance and independent board advisory along with business and succession planning.

He said he was looking forward to the challenge of the new role.
