An aspiring Ferndale film-maker considers himself privileged to have his film premiere at the SBS St James Theatre in Gore.

Thirteen-year-old George McFadzien’s home-made movie Granvia Country Calendar Part Two will have its own screening at the theatre on Sunday .

The film tells a story of twoboys, one who has just got out of jail and his friend, who is working hard to make an honest living, he said.

Car chases and crashes follow as the pair become involved with the police.

The St Peter’s College pupil said he was excited for the premiere.

"It’s pretty cool.

"I didn’t think that was going to happen," he said.

A lot of work had taken place behind the scenes to get the film finished and ready to be shown in the theatre, he said.

The film makers rang SBS St James Theatre manager Paul McPhail and asked if they could hire the theatre for a premiere.

"We had to work out all

the technical stuff with the movie to get it to work in the theatre, so that was pretty complicated," he said.

Once that had been figured out, he showed the movie to his family, friends and the support crew at a screening last Sunday.

"They loved it.

"[They were] laughing the whole way, basically."

Without giving too much away, there was one moment in the film that was his favourite, he said.

"[I] can’t spoil it but my favourite part is when my friend is putting the sign in and [the film] is flashing back."

The film’s final edit was exactly 50 minutes long, he said.

A lot of time and work had been put in to reach this point, he said.

"Big thanks to all the actors who did stuff they didn’t necessarily want to do and the stunt crew."

He now has plans to start writing the script for his next movie, which would be his third.

His mother Marion McFadzien said it was a privilege for George to have his film shown at the theatre.

"We’re really grateful to our local community for getting on board with it," Mrs McFadzien said.

People had gone above and beyond to make it happen, she said.

The film can be seen at the SBS St James Theatre on Sunday, at 6pm.

There is a $5 entry fee.
