Ratepayers asked for LTP views

Ratepayers have plenty of chances to have their say on the proposed Gore district long-term plan.

The plan was approved to go out to consultation at a meeting of the Gore District Council last week.

The plan has three key issues which the council must decide on.

They are whether to smooth rates increases by debt funding, sell assets to repay debt, and whether the council should be funding and running events.

The first question and answer session was held at Mataura Community Centre on Monday night and another was held at Waikaka Hall last night. Next Monday, there will be a meeting at the James Cumming Community Centre in Gore. There will be a final meeting at the Mataura Marae next Wednesday.

It will also be publishing an online video on April 17 covering questions from the community.
