It will be held at the Village at 2pm, where three plaques to lifetime members Stan Chittock and George Pullar, and foundational member Herbie Horrell and his wife Hazel will be unveiled.
Hokonui Village preservationist Nancy Stronach said it was a great way to cement their legacy in helping the village.
‘‘It’s celebrating what we have here, and recognising the work they’ve done for the past 40-45 years.’’
Mrs Stronach said it was important to keep the history alive and continue to maintain it for the future.
‘‘The hard work has been done by the previous generation. We have to do what we can,’’ she said.
As a part of the celebration, members have been reaching out to families of the past members to get them to come on Sunday.
Alongside the plaque, Mrs Stronach said a new addition to the village will be open for public use.
‘‘We’re also unveiling a table and chairs near the pond. People can wander down and use it while we do the speeches,’’ she said.
Hokonui Village preservationist Thelma Williams said the community had been very supportive of the village, and it always wowed crowds.
‘‘People are always amazed by what we’ve got here,’’ she said.
On the day, there will be a barbecue available for a gold coin donation, and an afternoon tea provided as well.
Mrs Williams said people were welcome to come and engage, and historical attire would not be frowned upon.
‘‘If you feel free and like to dress up, you’re more than welcome to,’’ she said.
