Children were running, riding and bouncing around Hamilton Park last Sunday due to an early Easter event held by Gore’s miniature train club.

Gore Model Engineers held an Easter Bunny Run on Sunday featuring an Easter egg hunt, a bouncy castle and rides on the miniature trains.

The train drivers, conductors, other members of the club and even the trains themselves wore bunny ears for the special event.

What caused screams and the most excitement seemed to be the Easter egg hunt organised by the club.

The children went in search of white rabbits, each stuffed animal giving them a letter as a clue to spell a secret phrase.

Spoiler alert: the phrase was "Easter egg".

As a prize for spelling the words, the children then won a chocolate egg and went into the draw for some other prizes to be drawn at the end of the day.

Rhonda Wilson runs the model engineers club, taking it up after her husband died.

She owns some of the trains and some belong to the club.

Her group has train runs for all special holidays to get families riding the small trains in Hamilton Park.

On May 3 they will be having a night run, with lights.

The event will be from 4pm for the children, and will carry on once it gets dark with lots of extra lights scattered about the park and tiny railway track.

The trains themselves have tiny functioning headlights, which will be guiding the way at the special event for the whole family at the beginning of May.

Rides on the train are $2.
